D.C. Moving Back the Other Way

There for a while it looked as if the District of Columbia might actually be the first ones to bring in online casinos. This was a source of amusement for most online gambling fans for they felt that it was the politicians in DC that kept everyone else from enjoying it. But all of a sudden, seemingly out of nowhere, they were going to be enjoying free online casinos and every other form of online gambling when everyone else was being denied. Of course this is not what was going on, and now it appears as if this was all a non issue to start with.

The Washington DC Council has repealed the district’s internet gambling law for they felt that the public has not had an opportunity to really let their opinions be known. Many residents felt that the online casino gambling had been pushed through and that they were not given notice or a chance to fight it, and so the ability to bring it in has been removed by the Council. They voted 10-2 to reverse the legislation that had allowed gambling to come in the first place, and some were very happy about this. Some council members felt that they had voted for something that they did not feel they had really understood in the first place.

Residents say that they were definitely led to believe that the council was voting on something else. They said that the words internet gambling and online casinos had not been mentioned; that it was called I-gambling in an attempt to make it seem as though it were something else.

Playing Roulette Online

There are so many games to choose from when you are at an online casino, it is no wonder that it might be tough to choose just one. That is the beauty of the online gambling casino – you don’t have to. Whereas in a live casino you might have to go and pick out a game to play, or wait to get on a table, etc. – you won’t have any of those problems when it comes to playing online. With the click of a mouse you can simply change games that easily. So with so much to choose from, one might wonder why you would choose to play roulette.

The interesting thing about online roulette is that it is so similar to the land based version of the game. It is true that you do not get the hooting and hollering that you get in the live version, and you do not get the social aspect of standing around the table – but you also do not get any of the distractions that come from all of that either. Playing roulette online is great for a couple of reasons, the least of which being you get to choose the form that you want. If you go into a casino and they are offering American Roulette that is what you have to play. But if you are at an online casino and they only have American, you simply click over to one that is offering European – simply because the odds are better for the player.

But there are tons of variations in the game and ways that it can be played, which makes it all that much more exciting for the player. Not only that, but you get to put your focus on it without worrying about if you are hungry, need a restroom break, etc. because again – you are in your living room so you can do whatever you want without losing your spot at the table.

Bronson Betting on Legalization

So you are searching CNN.com and you come across an article that says that Richard “Skip” Bronson, chairman of United States Digital Gaming is placing his bets that online gambling is going to be legalized. Bronson’s company, US Digital is a technology and marketing solution for Indian tribes that are seeking to gain entry to online gaming industry. He says that the idea of legalizing online betting is “imminent” because the states have no money and the addition of more land based casinos is not doing it for those that have gone that route. They are unable to get in enough money and by legalizing the industry they would open themselves up to a substantial form of revenue.

He finds it ridiculous that the “illegal” offshore operators are taking six billion dollars a year in revenue from the US and that the US government is doing nothing to take that money back. He is not alone in this opinion, it appears that there are many millionaires and billionaires out there that have started putting their money in the online gambling industry as they say that it is simply something that will come to fruition, it is just a matter of when it will happen. They are seeking out funding the best casino online as well as getting their foot in the door in all aspects of the wagering industry.

Todd Wagner, CEO of 2929 Entertainment says that it will all be basically the same except that it will protect those that are already participating in it, and it will bring in money for the government instead of them throwing it away. He says “we can have it untaxed and unregulated, or we can have it taxed and regulated” and at this point that is really all there is to it.

Crack Down Needs to Be Tougher on Cyber Criminals

The United Kingdom has its pluses and minuses when it comes to their online gaming regulations. For the most part they seem to have it down to a science and everyone seems to be happy with the way that the industry is growing and progressing. However, there are those that feel that the implementation of the regulations could use some work and that the way that punishment is handed out to those that break those rules needs to be stronger and stricter.

When it comes to online betting, the amount of financial and personal information out there is truly mind boggling. Let’s say that you have a site like Online Casino USA and their information is compromised – that means that all of their players have been compromised as well. You have to understand that these online casino sites have tons of information in electronic form and that any breach in their security not only endangers the reputation of the casino, but it also endangers everyone that has an account with the company. They have to watch their credit reports and make sure that no one is using their information without their permission and the after effects of a breach could be felt for years.

Recently FoxyBingo.com announced that their players’ information had been stolen by Marc Ben-Ezra. Ben-Ezra appeared in court and was found guilty, but many feel the punishment of a three-year conditional discharge and having to pay the online casino’s data controller Cashcade Limited £1,700 plus £830 in legal and court costs was too light. They want people to face jail time especially when they profit from the crime as Ben-Ezra did. He made more money than he had to pay out, thus no deterrent is put in place for others to follow suit.
